Poets of Belarus!

Flag of Belarus

Everyone now feels the richness of Belarusian poetry. But it, this wealth, did not come immediately - it did not accumulate for years, not even decades, but for centuries. Like no other Belarusian literature, Belarusian poetry is associated with nationality in the broadest sense of the word. And this finds its explanation. The Belarusian people were monstrously oppressed by tsarism. Tsarism did not even recognize the Belarusian language - he considered it an adverb. But people created beautiful things in their language: songs, tales, tales that were passed down from generation to generation. We hope that with the help of our site, you can learn more about the people who created these works.

Author of the day

Yakub Kolas is a talented prose writer and poet, born at the end of the 19th century, the author of many stories, poems and poems for children and adults. He lived a long and hard life - his biography contains 2 wars, a revolution and personal dramas. Kolas is often compared with the equally famous contemporary Yanka Kupala - they were both spokesmen for national identity, however, unlike him, Kolas is a more realistic, concrete author, not inclined to romanticize the difficulties of life.
